Thomas (Republican Party) was a member of the Maine State Senate, representing District 27. He assumed office on November 30, 2010. He left office on December 2, 2014.
Thomas is a former Republican member of the Maine State Senate, representing District 27 from 2010 to 2014
Douglas served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2004 to 2010, on the S.A.D. #46 School Board and as a Selectman for the Town of Ripley.

The signature filing deadline for party candidates wishing to run in this election was March 17, 2014. The deadline for write-in candidates to run in the primary election was April 28, 2014, and the deadline for non-party candidates to run in the general election was June 2, 2014. David Ziemer was unopposed in the Democratic primary. District 27 incumbent Douglas Thomas was defeated by Paul T. Davis in the Republican primary. Davis defeated Ziemer in the general election.[1][2][3][4]
