Two of the five seats on the School District of Indian River County school board were up for by-district primary election on August 30, 2016. Both the District 3 and the District 5 incumbents did not file for re-election to their seats. The candidates who filed to run for the open District 3 seat were Stephen Sczurek, Douglas Wight, and Laura Zorc. Zorc won the race against Wight, while Sczurek's name did not appear on the ballot. In District 5, Tiffany Justice defeated John Kim.[1]
