Duane Magee
Duane "D.T." Magee was the interim Director of Education in Iowa.[1] Governor Terry Branstad appointed Magee as a temporary replacement for resigned director Jason Glass while they searched for someone to officially take over the position.[2] Glass' term was not set to expire until 2015, but he left office early in order to become superintendent of the Eagle County School District.[3][4] Magee is the executive director of the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and continued to perform the duties of that office during his time as interim director.
In August 2013, Branstad appointed Brad Buck to formally succeed Glass and relieve Magee of his interim duties.[5]
Biography
Magee has served as the executive director of the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners since July 2012. His education experience prior to entering state employment includes working as an assistant superintendent of human resources and director of human resources for the Waukee Community School District, and as a principal in the Harlan Community School District.
Magee received his M.S.E. in Education Administration from Buena Vista University. He holds both his Ed. S. and B.S.E. in Secondary Business Education from Drake University.[6]
