A vote about whether to recall Duane Thul from his position as mayor of Weston, Oregon was held on September 10, 2013 for voters in the city. Ballots were mailed on August 23. Duane Thul retained his seat.[1][2]
Background
The recall effort was led by Wesley Rachor. Recall supporters cited ten reasons for the effort on their recall petition, including complaints of lack of government transparency and concern over the state of city finances. Thul rejected the complaints, stating for instance that all decisions go through the five member city council and that the decrease in the city's cash balance was because the city was tackling over due restoration projects.[1]
Thul was also subject to a recall election late in 2011 during his first term in office. Recall supporters then cited similar reasons to the 2013 effort. Thul easily won that vote.[1]
