|I know I'm the most experienced candidate running for this office since I’m the only candidate who has worked alongside with past and present judges at Precinct 3. I understand the requirements needed to successfully accomplish the job of a Justice of the Peace and this has allowed me to observe and listen to the community and staff about the changes needed.
I hope to have your support through the election.
Thank You in advance for your support !!!- WHAT EXPERIENCE QUALIFIES YOU FOR THE JOB? I am the most experienced candidate running for this office since I've been in law enforcement for 12 years at the current office that I’m running for in Bexar County at the Constable’s Office in Precinct 3. Not only do I know the law, but I've enforced the law. My opposing candidates do not have the extensive knowledge to know what enforcement is needed once the citation leaves the bench. The advantage I have is I have executed all the writs and evictions this court deals with. With my experience I’ve fully come to understand the requirements of a Justice of the Peace and what is required to successfully accomplish the job.
- WHAT ABOUT THE OFFICE WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE CHANGED? By listening on a daily basis to the community, attorneys, and staff these are the immediate changes I would make: First, I would transition back to In-person hearings and have the court hours be more accessible to the community by making the court available one Saturday of the month and having extended hours one day of the week each month. Second, all writs and evictions are currently being printed and manually filed, therefore I will transition the office to a more efficient workplace by filing electronically. By doing this it will save time and supplies which in return will save taxpayer money. Third, bring all backlogged cases to current status. These are just a few issues.
- DO YOU BELIEVE THERE IS MORE THE JP COURTS CAN DO TO ENSURE LANDLORDS AND TENANTS UNDERSTAND THEIR RIGHTS REGARDING EVICTIONS AND RECEIVE INFORMATION ON AVAILABLE RESOURCES? IF YES, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Definitely! I’ve come to realize after sitting through hundreds of eviction cases that not only are tenants and landlords unaware of the resources that are available to assist them, but we should educate and bring awareness to the solutions that can assist both parties involved. The court should promote one on one meetings with all the rent relief assignees offering funding for both tenants and landlords through the city, county, or state relief fund.
Returning back to in person hearings and making our court more efficient in order to save our tax payers money and time.
