I’m Dujuan Thomas, a proud native of Paducah KY, and a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. At the age of 17, I enlisted in the Army National Guard, where I served honorably. After completing my service, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from the University of Louisville, followed by a Master's Degree in Legal Studies with a focus on U.S. Government Legislation from American University Washington College of Law.

My passion for serving others began early in life. Growing up in the church, I was instilled with a strong sense of morality and witnessed firsthand the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. This foundation has guided my personal and professional journey, shaping my commitment to leadership and community service.

Growing up on the northside, I saw how some neighborhoods were neglected—crumbling roads, lack of resources, and a community that felt forgotten. That’s what inspired me to step into public service. I’m not in this for personal gain; I’m here to ensure that every voice in Paducah is heard. My leadership style is simple: I listen, I act, and I work with others to find solutions that benefit everyone. Our city deserves real action, not empty promises, and I’m committed to making that happen.

Leadership to me isn’t about the spotlight—it’s about getting results. I’ve learned through years of managing teams, organizing complex operations, and running my own business that collaboration and hard work lead to success.
  • People Over Politics - One question I am asked often is if Im a Republican or Democrat. I must emphasize that this election is nonpartisan, but I am an Independent. I respect everyone's right to choose their political affiliation, but I believe the issues our city faces are best addressed without the divisive politics we often see on a larger scale. My focus is on making a positive impact for everyone, regardless of party affiliation. My motto has become "People Over Politics"
  • What Makes Me Different From Other Candidates - I believe the main difference is that I am just like many of you. I grew up with cracked roads and grass pushing through the curbs. I understand the frustrations of our community because I’ve experienced them, and that’s what drives me to run for public office and make a real difference. In addition to that, I am the only candidate with a legal background.
  • Campaign Goals - One major issue we have seen is a lack of transparency in our local government. It's one thing to put it as a campaign motto and it's another to actually provide it. My goal is to hold our elected officials accountable while also uplifting them to a higher standard of integrity. We have also lacked focus on our priorities. We constantly spend millions on projects that or community oppose, but we still haven't made advances on our southside and other overlooked communities. Our roads still have huge potholes, and our sidewalks are still crumbling. This is a major issue and it's appalling that our elected officials ignore it.
Like I stated in the previous question, one major area is transparency. In addition to that, we need term limits for commissioners. I don't agree with sitting in the same position for over a decade, especially when year after year the same poor decisions are being made in office. If someone is truly committed to making a lasting difference, they have the opportunity to run for higher office or become a community advocate for the city they care about. It’s important to pass the torch to the next generation of leaders, unless the focus is solely on holding a title rather than serving the community effectively.
Their are several leaders in American history that have inspired me and my ambitions. First and foremost though, Jesus Christ is someone anyone can look up to. Reading the word and his teachings offer valuable lessons that are applicable in our everyday life, including my pursuit for public office. I strive to remain grounded in my faith, ensuring that my actions reflect the values of compassion, integrity, and service. While I deeply respect the diverse beliefs and perspectives of others, I am committed to holding onto my principles and faith, even as I navigate the challenges of leadership. It's important to me to lead with both conviction and understanding, creating an inclusive environment while staying true to who I am.
In the past individuals have mentioned needing experience for this position. I believe they fail to realize that the office of City Commissioner is the most entry level form of government, other than school board, that you can run for. Also the only real requirements are you must be 18 years old and a resident.

In saying that, they also fail to do thorough research into candidates like myself, that don't fit into the cookie cutter mold we have unfortunately become accustomed to. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Communication from the University of Louisville and a Master's in Legal Studies with a focus in U.S. Government Legislation from American University Washington College of Law. My education has provided me with a strong foundation in communication, government processes, and legal frameworks, which have been instrumental in shaping my approach to business and leadership.

In addition to my academic background, I served honorably in the Army National Guard, where I honed my skills in organization, problem-solving, and leadership. This experience, combined with my roles managing operations at CSC for major venues like Churchill Downs, and my regional management work at BodyArmor Sports Drink, has prepared me to handle complex logistical challenges with precision. Through my own business, Dujuan Thomas Productions, I've provided affordable marketing and production services to local businesses and ministries, further demonstrating my commitment to leadership, growth, and community impact.
I have received endorsements over the years from several locals and local businesses as well as nationally known individuals. Those include Charles Booker, Nappy Roots Ron Clutch and B Stille, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, & Stevie Mackey. I am also endorsed by GoodParty.org.
