A Durand Area School District Levy Increase proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Genesee County, which is in Michigan where it was defeated.

This measure proposed to authorize the Durand Area School District to increase property taxes by 2 mills ($2 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 3 years in order to fund the operating costs of the District. The estimated first year revenue from this tax was $90,853. This millage restores millage lost from the reduction required by the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and will be levied only to the extent necessary to restore that reduction.[1]
