Durenda Lawson was a family court judge for the Laurel and Knox Counties Family Court of the 27th Judicial Circuit in Kentucky. She was elected to the court on November 7, 2006.[1][2]

Lawson ran for re-election to the 27th Judicial Circuit in 2014, but she was defeated in the May 20 primary.[3][4] Her last term expired on January 4, 2015.[5]

Primary: She was defeated in the primary on May 20, 2014, receiving 29.6 percent of the vote. She competed against Marilyn Benge McGhee and Stephen M. Jones. [3][4]

Education

Lawson received her undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University and her J.D. degree from the University of Louisville School of Law.[6]

Career

Before her election to the court, Lawson served as a domestic relations commissioner. She also previously served as an assistant county attorney for Knox County.[2]
