Pyles graduated from Columbus City Schools' West High School. After high school, he earned a bachelor's degree from Capital University with concentrations in public administration, political science and management. He began working at the Ohio Auditor of State's office, and continued his education at DeVry University in order to complete his graduate work in public and business administration.[1]

  • 2007-2009: Program manager/education consultant in the office of middle and high school transformation for the Ohio Department of Education
  • 2005-2007: Assistant performance auditor/fellowship intern for the Ohio Auditor of State
  • 2005: Media and communications intern for the Ohio Historical Society

Pyles also worked as an assistant in the office of the Vice President for Resource Management and CFO at Capital University.

Elections for the Ohio House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 6, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 5, 2014. Hearcel Craig defeated Howard Heard in the Democratic primary, while Dustin Pyles was unopposed in the Republican primary. Craig defeated Pyles in the general election.[2]
