An effort in Orange, New Jersey, to recall Mayor Dwayne Warren was initiated in August 2018. Recall organizers failed to submit the 4,051 signatures required to trigger a special recall election by the January deadline.[1]

Recall effort leader Tyrone Jon Tarver said, "We felt the need to ask for an election, a recall election as soon as possible due to many citizens' frustration with how the city is being run. It's really his choice on how he runs the city, how he mishandles and misappropriates the finances of the city."[2]

Recall organizers have 160 days after a petition is approved to collect signatures equal to 25 percent of the registered voters in the district. If the required signatures are collected and verified by the city clerk, the targeted official has five days to resign.[2]
