Shaner pleads guilty
On April 6, 2015, Shaner pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of hindering apprehension involving the drunk driving case of a former assistant district attorney's nephew. Judge Richard A. Lewis sentenced Shaner to 18 months of probation and 150 hours of community service. Shaner admitted that he had told the arresting officer that he would have to dismiss the case against Robert L. Rudnik, the nephew of assistant district attorney Linda Cordaro (now a common pleas judge for the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas). The Pennsylvania State Attorney's Office filed obstruction and perjury charges against Shaner in September 2014 and added the charge of hindering apprehension in December. The drunk driving charges against Rudnik were refiled and he subsequently entered a guilty plea.[3]
