Dylan is a lifelong Oklahoman and public policy researcher. He earned his Ph.D in political science from the University of Oklahoma and currently works as a professor teaches courses on American government, Oklahoma politics, and other subjects. He lives in Edmond, OK with his wife, Mary, and their three children.
The areas of policy I am most passionate about are schools and economic security. As an educator, I have seen firsthand the devastation that our state's decisions have had on our children's success. As a parent, I worry constantly about the quality of education my children are receiving, especially with the disruptions caused by COVID.

I know what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck and to have to scrap together money for emergency expenses like car trouble, because I have been there myself. I know what it is like to have to pay out of pocket for medical expenses and medications, because I had to do so for many years. I know what it's like to have a mountain of school debt, and to graduate into an economy where job prospects are grim. I believe that we can build a strong Oklahoma economy that works for everyone, but we need leaders who are dedicated and understand these struggles.

Campaign website

Billings' campaign website stated the following:

The economy

  • We have come a long way since the depths of the Great Recession, but the benefits of recovery have not been felt equally across the nation. Wages have stagnated and economic mobility has all but disappeared. The American Dream is becoming just that- a dream. There is no one size fits all solution to the many problems our economy is facing, but as United States Senator I promise to always put the future of Oklahoma first.
  • We must restructure a tax system that is designed to benefit the lucky few at the top.
  • I support an immediate repeal of the disastrous Trump Tax Cuts that have added billions to the nation’s debt.
  • We must end Trump’s unnecessary trade wars that are doing nothing but putting our farmers at risk of losing their livelihoods. These ridiculous policies hurt Oklahoma businesses and put thousands of Oklahomans at risk to lose their jobs.
  • We must invest in human capital through a strengthening of post-secondary education. This includes not only a focus on making college more affordable and accessible but also in spreading more awareness about the value of vocational training.
  • We must focus on rebuilding America’s core through a large scale investment in infrastructure. Fixing our broken roads and bridges will not only provide thousands of good-paying jobs, it will also decrease the cost of doing business in America.[3]
