- We must fight for Single Payer healthcare.
Single Payer Healthcare is on the ballot this year. In 2027, the Oregon legislature is anticipating a bill to establish a healthcare system in our state that will not only save us billions, but cover everyone in the state. Working people like me often spend up to 25% of their annual earnings on health insurance, and they still have to cover copays and deductibles. Our model is impossible to navigate, and costs us a fortune to pad private profits.
A Single Payer healthcare system not only benefits our residents, but healthcare providers and small businesses throughout the state, by cutting costs for scalability and ensuring fair reimbursement for providers. - We need to take control of our utilities. By 2025, it is projected that Oregonians will have seen an increase in their utility bills of up to 40% over five years. This rate hike certainly doesn't come with a quality improvement, or guarantee. Public Utility Districts are a tried and true innovative Oregonian approach to utility management that empowers the people who use them, and more often than not reduces costs. As Senator, I would fight for funding new public utility districts in Central and Southern Oregon.
- We need a robust public transit system. The cost of getting around takes up a lot of of the household budget. Oregonians spend between $500-$1200 per month on a personal vehicle every month. There is no reason that we cannot fully fund a robust public transit system that would not only improve our quality of life, but lower our cost of living.
