Throughout his childhood, Dylan began to understand the importance of strong community. Growing up in ministry required Dylan to be flexible and able to adapt to change. Although Dylan spent most of his childhood in Wyoming, Indiana always felt like home. After graduating high school in 2012, Dylan enrolled at Indiana Wesleyan University to pursue a degree in elementary education. While attending Indiana Wesleyan, Dylan met his wife Rachel. They have been married for 3 years and currently reside in Howard County.

Upon graduating from Indiana Wesleyan in 2016, Dylan accepted a teaching position in Marion Community Schools where he currently teaches 2nd grade. While there, Dylan has worked to develop relationships in the surrounding community to improve education for his students. He also developed an after school program called ""After Hour Giant Power"" which allowed students to participate in extracurricular activities. On most Saturdays in the winter, you can find Dylan at a student's basketball game at the Boys and Girls Club of Grant County.

When Dylan is not teaching, he enjoys spending time with family, going to sporting events and reading. To learn more about Dylan's campaign, please contact Friends of Dylan at mchenryfor30@gmail.com or 765-251-8780.
  • I will always advocate for working families.
  • I will advocate and address public education funding in the state of Indiana.
  • I will advocate for affordable and accessible healthcare for all Hoosiers.
In uncertain times like these, we have seen how important it is for people to feel secure. Hardworking people across the state of Indiana find themselves facing physical, financial and emotional hardships because of COVID-19. Thousands of people have had to file for unemployment and are concerned about how they are going to make ends meet. Together, we can work to make sure that the people of Indiana have the resources they need to recover from this unprecedented emergency.

Here are some policies that I think could have helped the people of Indiana right away. During the 2020 legislative session, lawmakers could have lowered prescription drug costs. They also had the opportunity to cap Insulin costs at $100 for a 30 day supply. The people of Indiana deserve to have affordable healthcare costs.

This year, I also attended the Red for Ed Rally at the Statehouse. Many educators in Indiana feel their voices are not being heard. In 2010, the education budget was cut by $300 million. Education funding has not recovered from this decrease. In the community where I teach, we receive $1.4 million less than we did in 2010. In response to COVID-19, schools across the state have stepped up to provide resources for their students. Public education has never been more important, and it must be funded in a meaningful way.

As your next State Representative, I look forward to addressing these areas of public policy to ensure that Indiana families have the future they deserve.
As an educator, I have seen the importance of building strong community relationships. I remain positive even in tough situations and always look for common ground. This quality will make me a successful office holder as I strive to work with legislators on both sides of the aisle.
I believe that it is my core responsibility to listen to the residents of my district. As I listen, they tell me the issues that are important to them. But it is not enough to listen. After listening, I must work to address the issues that we have discussed. I will always advocate for the people of my district and they will always be able to contact me no matter what issue they are facing.
The first historical even that I remember happening in my life was the terrorist attacks on September 11th. I was 8 years old at the time. I remember coming in from recess and watching the news the rest of the school day. I remember being unsure of what was going to happen next. How long will it take us to recover?

I also remember that our country felt very unified in the aftermath of September 11th. I believe that we can unify in the same way in our response to COVID-19. We can work together to recover and unite to make sure that we all have access to the resources we need. In times of uncertainty, America always steps up to the plate. I look forward to meeting the challenge ahead of us and I know that we can come out on the other side of this stronger, together.
My favorite book is "The Book with No Pictures" by BJ Novak. It is important to me because it allows children to see that they can bring a story without pictures to life through their own imaginations. It is my favorite book to read aloud and it brings joy to audiences of all ages.
Yes, I believe that it can be beneficial, but I also believe that it is important for citizens with real life experience to step up and take a stand for what they believe in. As a public educator, I have always advocated for my profession, but no matter how much I have advocated, my voice has not been heard. I understand the challenges of my community because I live in them everyday. As a state legislator, I will fight these challenges and work to improve our communities.
It is vital to build relationships with other legislators. In any leadership role, it is important to rely on others whenever you are problem solving. As an educator, I have always worked to build bridges with leaders and colleagues. Without meaningful relationships, it is hard for significant change to take place. As a legislator, I will work to build connections to ensure that we are always working together for the people of Indiana.
I would want to be a part of the Education committee. My experience as an Educator would be very useful on this committee. On this committee, I would advocate for adequate funding for public schools. I would make sure that we have the well being of each community in mind since each community must be equipped with the proper resources to serve and educate their students.
As I have talked with residents in District 30, stories about healthcare have really resonated with me. I recently talked with a couple who both have good jobs with full benefits and they still struggle to cover their medical expenses. In Indiana, this should not be the case. Each story that I hear on healthcare reminds me that we can do better for the people of Indiana right away with common sense measures like lowering prescription drug costs.
