Ernie McClendon is the judge for the 258th District Court, which presides over Polk, San Jacinto, and Trinity counties in Texas.[1] He was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Perry on June 13, 2014, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Judge Elizabeth E. Coker.[2] McClendon was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expires on December 31, 2018.[3]

McClendon ran for election to the 258th District Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 40.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Cecil E. Berg and Shelly Bush Sitton.
Runoff: Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, McClendon faced Bush in a runoff election on May 27, 2014. McClendon won, earning 53.7 percent of the vote.
General: He defeated Joe D. Roth in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 75.9 percent of the vote.

Education
McClendon received both his undergraduate degree and J.D. from Baylor University.[2]
Career
Before his appointment to the court, McClendon worked as an attorney in private practice. He also previously served as an attorney for Polk County.[2]
