Biography
Rampersad received her bachelor's from the University of Washington in Seattle and received her J.D. from Georgetown University. She began her legal career by clerking for then-Chief Justice Barbara Madsen of the Washington State Supreme Court. She has also worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Dadaab Kenya Refugee Camp, International Bridges to Justice in Beijing, China, and Asylum Access in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Rampersad's experience in civil law includes having represented institutional clients in class action litigation, having served as a civil prosecutor in state licensing matters, and having represented indigent clients as a civil legal aid attorney. Her experience in the criminal justice system includes working as a public defender, prosecutor, and judicial officer.[1]
