E. Richard Meadows, Jr. was a judge of District 8A of Iowa. He was appointed district judge of this court in 1998. He retired in 2010 after 12 years of service and was replaced by Lucy J. Gamon. He occasional heard cases as a senior judge after his retirement.[1][2]

Biography and Education

Meadows was born in Williamsburg, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1968 to 1972. He received his bachelor's degree from James Madison University in 1974 and his M.Ed. and certification from the School of Psychology in 1976. He then worked as a School Psychologist until 1979. From 1979 to 1982, he worked as production control and as a computer programmer with John Deere Ottumwa Works. He graduated with a law degree from Drake University in 1985. He is now married and has two children.[1]

Career

Meadows began his legal career as an assistant Wapello County attorney and private practice lawyer. In 1989, he was appointed associate judge of the 8th Judicial District Court. He was then promoted to District Judge in 1998. In 2010, he retired to senior status.[1]
