Earl Carroll
Earl Carroll was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. He joined the court in 1980 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter. Carroll served on senior status from October 10, 1994, until his death on February 3, 2017.[1]
Early life and education
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Carroll graduated from the University of Arizona with his bachelor's degree in 1948 and from the University of Arizona College of Law with his LL.B. in 1951.[1]
Military service
Carroll served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
District of Arizona
Carroll was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on June 2, 1980, to a new seat on the United States District Court for the District of Arizona created by 92 Stat. 1629. Carroll was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 26, 1980, and he received his commission on June 30, 1980. Carroll elected to take senior status beginning on October 10, 1994, and served as a senior judge until his death on February 3, 2017. Carroll was succeeded in this position by Roslyn Silver.[1]
