Earnest E. Brown, Jr. is the Division 6 judge of the Eleventh Circuit West of Arkansas. He was elected in 2008. He ran unopposed and won re-election to the Eleventh Circuit West on May 20, 2014.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Brown received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He earned his J.D. in 1994 from the University of Arkansas School of Law. In 2000, the chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff named him a top young leader in Jefferson County. Brown is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.[5][6][7]

Career

Before becoming circuit court judge, Brown was a Democratic Arkansas State Representative for legislative District 16 in Pine Bluff beginning in 2007, and in 2008 was assistant speaker pro tempore for the Arkansas House of Representatives. He had been active in Arkansas Democratic Party politics before that, including a position as secretary of the state chapter from 1998 to 2001 and president of the Jefferson County Young Democrats from 1995 to 1997. From 2000 to 2006, he was an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He began his legal career as juvenile prosecutor for Jefferson and Lincoln counties, and practiced with Cross, Kearney & McKissic before becoming partner in the firm Brown and McKissic. He is also a former deputy prosecutor for Jefferson and Lincoln counties. Brown was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1995.[8][5][6][7]
