An East Sparta Village Fire Tax Levy question was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Stark County, which is in Ohio, where it was approved.

This question authorized the Village of East Sparta to renew a property tax levy of 1.25 mills ($1.25 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for five years in order to fund the fire protection services of the Village.[1]

Text of measure

Language on the ballot:

A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Village of East Sparta for the purpose of providing and maintaining fire apparatus, appliances, buildings, or sites therefor, or sources of water supply and materials therefor, or the establishment and maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph, or the payment of permanent, part-time, or volunteer firefighters or fire fighting companies to operate the same, including the payment of the firefighter employers’ contribution required under section 742.34 of the Revised Code, or the purchase of ambulance equipment , or the provision of ambulance, paramedic, or other emergency medical services operated by a fire department or firefighting company at a rate not exceeding one and onequarter (1.25) mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to twelve and one-half cents ($0.125) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five (5) years, commencing in 2013, first due in calendar year 2014.[1][2]
