The Economic Policy Institute (EPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that studies economic and labor policy and promotes policies with a goal of countering "rising inequality, low wages and weak benefits for working people, slower economic growth, unacceptable employment conditions, and a widening racial wage gap.[1] It is based in Washington, D.C.

EPI's research areas include labor issues, as well as areas related to health, education and immigration.[5] Recent reports as of August 2025 include recommendations on policies related to the minimum wage, overtime pay and state regulation of artificial intelligence.[6][7][8]
The group has published the regularly updated State of Working America encyclopedia since 1988.[1] In addition to producing studies, EPI also sponsors conferences and seminars, advises policy makers, provides data to national and local organizations, and supplies information for media dissemination.[1] EPI also maintains a blog where writers provide commentary on current labor issues.[9]
