Campaign themes
2016
Emery issued the following statement regarding his bid for office:
“ | Most citizens are fed up with the craziness that is Washington DC. I’m fed up too. I’m fed up that some Members of Congress would rather score ideological points, win the favor of moneyed special interests and appear on “Fair and Balanced” News Talk Shows rather than actually help solve our problems! Problems like the continued loss of good jobs to China and the rest of the world that will pay workers a dollar a day or our crumbling infrastructure that has led to situations like Flint Michigan or the Interstate 35 West Bridge in Minneapolis, that fell into the Mississippi River during rush hour.
Too many of us are barely getting by with low paying or part-time jobs. Our environment, which many of us depend upon for our livelihood, is threatened. Our children are burden with crushing debt from their education. Our Veterans are dying as they wait for help from the VA Healthcare system. Instead of trying to work to fix these problems and help the people of North Central Florida, Ted Yoho,Tea Party extremist and DC Insider, has focused on shutting down the Government, running for Speaker of the House and extolling the virtues of the lobbyists he represents. It’s time to say enough! I want to bridge partisan and ideological divides. I am willing to do what has to be done to fix the problems we Americans face today. [3] |
