Jacoba Kemper filed recall petitions against Ed Ewing and Mark Schmidlin, Banks Fire District #13 board members, in Washington County, Oregon. Ewing retained his seat with 52.4% of voters voting against the recall. Schmidlin was recalled with 51.1% of voters voting in favor of the recall.[1]

Kemper's petition states the board members failed to properly investigate harassment accusations against Chief Rodney Linz. Following the gathering of over 500 signatures, a recall election was held on April 12, 2022.[2]

Recall supporters were required to gather 449 signatures in order to send the recall to a vote. There were 513 signatures collected in support of recalling Ed Ewing and 537 signatures in support of recalling Mark Schmidlin. The recall election was held on April 12, 2022.[2] Vacancies on the board, including vacancies due to a recall, are filled by the remaining members.
