Ed Magre served as the judge of Texas District 20 from 2001 to 2011. He retired on June 30, 2011.[1] [2]
Noteworthy cases
Judge Magre presided over a well publicized legal battle between the power company Luminant and aluminum manufacturer Alcoa. Luminant was sued by Alcoa because Alcoa claimed that rate hikes from the power company forced them to shutdown operations in Rockdale, TX in 2008. Alcoa lost the case and Luminant was unexpectedly awarded damages totaling $10 million.[1]
