Collapse all
|- Constituent Services: The top priority for District 7 is ensuring robust constituent services. Residents should feel empowered to voice concerns and feel heard by their local representative. As a community, we need to establish effective channels to communicate with our City Councilperson, fostering a responsive and supportive environment.
- Housing: I see housing as a human right and identify housing affordability as the root cause of homelessness and mental health crises. I advocate for a shift from criminalizing homelessness to finding compassionate solutions that ensure stable homes, enhance public safety, and maintain affordability.
Addressing homelessness is a critical aspect of community development. To combat street homelessness, we must advocate for deeply affordable housing options, including initiatives by NYCHA and HDFC. Additionally, we need to confront the challenges posed by Columbia University's real estate arm. A proactive and assertive stance is required to protect the community's interests and social housing.
- Health Equity, Community Wellbeing and Mental Health Services: Securing funding for non-profit organizations providing health care and mental health services is essential. These services are vital for maintaining the well-being of our residents, and as a community. Moreover, a committee dedicated to animal welfare will ensure that our furry friends receive the care and attention they deserve.
