Education
Judge Hardaway received his law degree from the University of Alabama in 1977.[2][3]
Career
Hardaway was admitted to the Alabama bar on April 28, 1978.[3] Hardaway was a judge for the Sumter County District Court from 1980 to 1995. In 1995 he began working as a judge for Circuit 17.[2]
2012 election

Noteworthy cases
Greenetrack casino seizure
On July 1, 2010, Hardaway ordered Alabama's Task Force on Illegal Gambling to abandon their orders to remove electronic bingo machines at Greenetrack casino. This occurred after the Alabama Supreme Court had given the Task Force permission. The order has prompted Governor Bob Riley to call for Hardaway's removal, for "clearly and flagrantly ignoring the Alabama Supreme Court."[6]
In response to Hardaway's order, the Alabama Supreme Court again overturned his ruling, thereby allowing the task force to continue its seizure of the gambling machines.[7]
