Eddie Melton
Eddie Melton (Democratic Party) was a member of the Indiana State Senate, representing District 3. He assumed office on November 9, 2016. He left office on December 5, 2023.
Melton (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Indiana State Senate to represent District 3. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Melton also ran for election for Governor of Indiana. He did not appear on the ballot for the Democratic primary on June 2, 2020.
Biography
Melton was born and raised in Gary, Indiana and attended Kentucky State University and later Calumet College of St. Joseph. In his career, Melton worked as the community initiative officer for the Legacy Foundation, a community foundation in Northwest Indiana, and later served as the manager of Corporate Citizen and Community Relations for Northern Indiana Public Service Company.[1]
In addition to these positions, Melton served as chairman of the Indiana Commission on the Social Status of Black Males, served on the State Board of Education, representing the First Congressional District of Indiana, and served as a national board member for the American Association of Blacks in Energy.[1]
