Edgar W. Dickson
Edgar W. Dickson was a circuit court judge for the First Judicial Circuit in South Carolina. The First Judicial Circuit has jurisdiction in Calhoun, Dorchester, and Orangeburg counties.[1] He assumed the bench on March 2, 2009. He was re-elected in 2016 and retired on June 30, 2022.[2]
Education
Dickson received his undergraduate degree in English from the University of South Carolina in 1972 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1977.[2]
Career
Before he became a judge, Dickson worked as an attorney for the State Budget and Control Board. He has also previously practiced law with various law firms, including Georgaklis and Korn, Clawson, Dickson and Wilson, and Williams and Williams. His public service includes work for the Office of the Attorney General where he later became chief staff attorney for the Child Support Enforcement Division of the Department of Social Services and then general counsel for the Second Injury Fund.[2]
