Campaign themes
2014
Medina highlighted the following issues on his campaign website:
“ | Dear Desert Hot Springs Voters,
I believe in the importance of a progressive education. An education that will not end the moment a student graduates, but that will continue to grow throughout their lives. In this age of global capitalism and breathtaking culture change, it is completely necessary that we begin to establish a democratic culture and provide meaningful instruction to our families. This capitalism and culture change is seen within our valley and evident in the new generation of students, however many administrative practices stay the same. We need leaders who respect our diversity and that acknowledge each individual for their abilities, interest, ideas, needs and cultural identity. I understand and participate in my community and I am willing to collaborate with others to achieve a common good. Most importantly, that common good must always be child centered. The definition of democracy is the active participation by all citizens in social, political, and economic decisions that will affect their lives. I am the parent of two young students of PSUSD, and I naturally want the absolute best for all our children. One of my goals is to motivate parents to be active participants in the decisions that directly affect the daily lives of our children. For the first time, the City of Desert Hot Springs will have representation on the Governing School Board of PSUSD. This will also be the first time a parent of PSUSD will run for governing office. What is even more astonishing is that if I win, I will be the first Latino board member in a district that is composed of approximately 75 percent Latino students. I have what it takes to represent PSUSD families. I will be bringing more cultural understanding, family involvement, and parent organization. I am reliable, compassionate, honest, active, innovative, a Father, a Husband, and a neigh boor. I have lived in Desert Hot Springs for 11 years, and I know the needs of my community and trust that they will support this change. Humbly, I ask for your support and trust, so that I may have the opportunity to serve you from the bottom of my heart and voice for the DHS families and all PSUSD students If you have any questions dont hesitate to call me or message me. Sincerely, Eduardo Medina 760 329 5373[4] |
