Per Senate Rule S30-10, standing and select committees in the Montana State Senate are assigned by the Committee on Committees with input from the Minority Leader on minority membership. All assignments are subject to Senate approval. Special and conference committees are appointed by the President of the Senate with input from the Majority and Minority Leaders. The Senate may change a committee's membership on a day's notice.[2] Senate standing committees have four classes: class one committees meet Monday through Friday; class two committees meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday; class three committees meet Tuesday and Thursday; and on call committees meet at the behest of the respective chairpersons.[3] The Majority and Minority Leaders are non-voting ex officio members of all committees for the purpose of establishing a quorum.[4]
