Edward Coke Billings
Edward Coke Billings (1829-1893) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
He was nominated by President Ulysses Grant on January 10, 1876. He was confirmed by the Senate on February 10, 1876, and received commission that same day. On March 3, 1881, he was reassigned to this court after his nomination to the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit was turned down by the Senate. He served until his death on December 1, 1893.[1] Billings was succeeded in this position by Charles Parlange.
Early life and education
Judge Billing graduated from Yale College in 1853.[1]
Professional career
Judge Billings was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit in 1881, but the nomination failed in the Senate.[1]
