Edward Louis Filippine is a federal judge on senior status for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. He joined the court in 1977 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter. Filippine assumed senior status on June 11, 1995.

Early life and education

Fillpine graduated from Saint Louis University with his bachelor's degree in 1951 and his juris doctorate degree in 1957. Fillipine served in the US Air Force on Active Duty from 1953 to 1957.[1]

Professional career

After law school, Filippine entered into private practice from 1957 to 1977 in the State of Missouri. Also, Filippine served as a special assistant state attorney general for Missouri from 1963 to 1964. He worked for former Missouri U.S. Senator Thomas Eagleton as a staff assistant in the Missouri Field Office from 1969 to 1974 and as the campaign manager in the 1974 campaign.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Eastern District of Missouri

Fillipine was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on June 22, 1977 to a seat vacated by John Regan who went on Senior Status. Fillipine was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 21, 1977, and received commission on July 22, 1977. Fillipine served as the Chief Judge of the court from 1990 to 1995 before assuming senior status on June 11, 1995.[1] Filippine was succeeded in this position by E. Richard Webber.
