Edward J. Volz, Jr.
Edward J. Volz, Jr. was a Lee County judge of the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was elected in 1990 and took office early the following year. In 2008, he was re-elected to a term that ended on January 5, 2015. Volz retired from the court in January 2015 and was succeeded by Mary Evans.[1][2][3]
Education
Volz received his B.S. degree from Villanova University in 1968 and his J.D. degree from Fordham Law School in 1971.[4]
Career
Volz began his career in 1972 as an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County. He then worked as a private practice lawyer from 1974 to 1978 and as an assistant town attorney for Islip from 1976 to 1978 before returning to the District Attorney's office. In 1983, he became an assistant state attorney for the 12th Judicial District. He held that position until 1990. From 1988 to 1990, he was also an assistant U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Florida. He was then elected to the circuit court.[1][5]
