Ballotpedia biographical submission form

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

I am a Liberal Democratic Public Servant committed to H.O.P.E. for my Community (Helping Our People Everywhere)

Issues and Concerns for the Consideration of the Voters:

Bringing the proper resources in the 4th Ward is a primary concern of mine if given the opportunity to be your Alderman. Including the voters of the 4th Ward to be active in deciding the future of the 4th Ward. Organizing the businesses in the 4th Ward to not only provide services, but to reinvest in our community. Addressing crime and violence in an effective and equitable fashion, keeping transparency first in the 4th Ward. Organizing the blocks and the precincts with the businesses in the 4th Ward to increase quality of life. Additionally, we must strengthen the ward organizations by increasing ward meetings and reinstituting precinct captains, block units and re-establishing 4th Ward business associations. To help homeless veterans in finding employment and housing to honor their service to our nation. We must assist ex-offenders in finding employment and accommodations to meet their needs.

Is there anything you would like to add?

"My name is Edward McFowland and I am running to be your Alderman in the 4th Ward, City of St. Louis

I am a proud alumni of Sumner High School, Class of 1975. After graduating, I enlisted in the United States Army, upon being honorably discharged I attended and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where I received a bachelor's in political science and a minor in public administration.

I am a former board member of the Greater Ville Re-Development Corporation and Chairman of the Original 4th Ward Democratic Organization, Judge Advocate and Second Vice Commander of Tom Powell Post 77 American Legion, plus a proud member of VFW Post 3944 and AMVETS Post 76, Dav Post Chapter 1.

I am a proud lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a former school teacher for the St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS). Additionally, I am a Former Inspector/Assistant Manager at the St. Louis City Housing Authority. Lastly, I served as the Disciplinary Officer/Director of Residential Living for the St. Louis Job Corps.

All of these positions I have been immensely proud of, but I am more proud of the opportunity, if given the honor, to be your humble and grateful public servant at City Hall."[2]
