Edward Meyer
Edward Meyer (b. April 15, 1935) is a former Democratic member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 12 from 2005 to 2015. He served as Senate Assistant Majority Leader. Meyer did not seek re-election in 2014.
Meyer served in the New York State Assembly from 1971 to 1975, was on the New York State Board of Regents from 1977 to 2000, a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2000 and on the Guilford Democratic Committee.
Biography
Meyer earned his B.A. from Yale University in 1957, his Tripos from Cambridge University in 1958 and his J.D. from Yale Law University in 1961. His professional experience includes working as an Associate for Davis Polk and Wardwell from 1961 to 1964, as an Assistant United States Prosecutor for the United States Department of Justice from 1964 to 1968, as Partner for Spengler Carlson from 1968 to 1988 and as a partner for Meyer, Taub and Wild from 1988 to 2004.[1]

Meyer ran in the 2012 election for Connecticut State Senate District 12. Meyer ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 14, 2012. He defeated Cindy Cartier (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]

Meyer ran for re-election to the 12th District seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He defeated Lisa Davenport (R) in the November 2 general election.
