I'm running for the N.C. Senate District 46 seat because I want to help Gov. Cooper improve the lives of North Carolinians, and the people of my district. I want to help pass bills to: increase teacher pay and give teachers their teacher assistance personnel back. I also want to raise unemployment benefits to support the hard working people of N.C. and my district. Improve access to high-speed broadband internet so that all students have equal access to knowledge outside of the classroom. I also want to bring clean energy jobs to my district, which will not only help the environment, but will also help support the people of my district by providing well paying jobs and clean, safe energy resources. I would also like to work with other state Senators to pass Congressional term limit laws to help decrease corruption among some life-long Senators. I want to go to Raleigh to fight for the people of Avery, Burke, and Caldwell Counties in district 46, but I also want to help make all North Carolinians' lives better.
  • I will fight to pass Medicaid Expansion so all North Carolinians and residents in district 46 have access to more affordable healthcare
  • I will fight to increase the reach and access for high-speed broadband internet, so all students and residents can have access to it in these vital times.
  • I will fight to increase teacher pay, so they don't have to work other jobs to try to make ends meet. Teachers shouldn't have to buy their own students supplies out of their own pocket because it's not in the budget.
I'm extremely passionate about term limits, because we need to cut down dramatically on the amount of corruption that exists in our political system. Too many large organizations spend large amounts of money to influence some politicians decisions, and I want to work with other N.C. Senators to put a stop to it.
I'm also passionate about teacher pay, because when teachers have to work additional jobs just to survive, we not only hurt teachers but we also hurt students. Teachers need to only have to worry about giving all of their students the best educational experience that they can.
Medicaid Expansion would make healthcare attainable for 9,960 residents of Avery, Burke and Caldwell counties, and would bring with it 780 new jobs in total. In addition, Medicaid expansion would give 23,000 North Carolina Veterans healthcare insurance. Most people do not realize that not all veterans qualify for VA health benefits and are left to fend for themselves.
