Edward Toussaint, Jr. was the Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He was appointed Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals in 1995 and was reappointed to this position in 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2007.[1] He was retained to the court in 1996, 2002 and 2008.[2] He retired on July 15, 2011.[3]
Education
Judge Toussaint attended DePaul University Law School, where he received his J.D. degree.[1]
Career
Judge Toussaint began his career in 1975 working as Claim Counsel for American Family Insurance. He first judged on the Workers' Compensation Court from 1981 to 1987. He then became a Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals Judge until 1992, when he was appointed to the District Court of Hennepin County (4th Judicial District). In addition to his judicial duties, he works as an adjunct professor at the William Mitchell College of Law and the University of St. Thomas School of Law.[1]
