Lawsuit filed by former law clerk
On February 11, 2015, Joseph Dearie, Jr., Gannon's former law clerk, filed a lawsuit accusing Gannon of, among other things: insurance fraud, ex parte communications, sexual harassment, intoxication while at work and disparaging comments about women, minorities and the intellectually disabled.[6]
In the 42-page complaint, Dearie also listed the many personal tasks Gannon had him perform, such as: getting Gannon soda and coffee, fixing his internet at home, driving Gannon to his home and typing up a list of Gannon's medications to be updated during the year. Dearie further accused Gannon of judicial misconduct for failing to read a number of motions before him and bragging about his refusal to sign police warrants.[6]
On his Linkedin page, Dearie stated:
“ | I went to law school so I could stand up to bullies, not become one. Upon my refusal to facilitate crimes against the public, my "mental health" has been attacked by Gannon and the N.J. Judiciary. Consequently, I was left with no choice but to sue Judge Gannon and the N.J. Judiciary, see J.L.D. v. GANNON et al., 2:15-cv-00386-KM-MAH.[7][8] | ” |
