Edward C. Voss was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. He was appointed to this position on May 14, 2004[1] and retired on May 13, 2012.[2]

Education

Judge Voss was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1944. He received his B.B.A. degree from the University of Texas in 1966 and his J.D. degree from the University of Arizona in 1969. He also earned an LL.M. degree from the University of Virginia in 1992.[3]

Career

Judge Voss began his career in 1969 as a lawyer with the firm Murphy & Posner. In 1978, he became a Deputy Maricopa County Public Defender. He then worked as a Commissioner for the Maricopa County Superior Court in 1982 and 1983. He became a judge on this court in 1983 and he was elevated to the Court of Appeals (Division One) in 1989. He worked on this court until 2003, when he returned to the private practice of law. He practiced with the firm Gallagher & Kennedy until he was appointed U.S. Magistrate in 2004.[3]
