2017

In the New York Campaign Finance Board's voter guide, Sementilli listed his top three issues as:

  1. MORE POLICE OFFICERS
  2. BUILD MORE SCHOOLS
  3. STOP HOUSING OVER DEVELOPMENT[9]
—Egidio Sementilli[4]

2005

In response to a question from the New York City Campaign Finance Board about the most important issue he would address if elected, Sementilli said:

The educational system, despite Mayor Bloomberg’s proclamation that the elimination of 110 Livingston Street misfits and the appointment of a feisty school chancellor, would resolve all of the problems in the school system, has not been achieved.

The courts have ruled that more money is needed for city’s schools to be distributed fairly. City Hall must be vocal for more money from Albany. I will fight City Hall and Albany politicians who have denied our children their fair-share of taxpayer’s money plowed into educational resources for our children. In addition, parents and their children should have the right to take – educational money (vouchers) – to any school without any drain on the educational system. Albany’s educational funding is based on students not schools.

Therefore, if a school is failing a child, that child should have the option to take money to another school. That is why I support charter schools (for all children) as a means of balancing a failing public school system. Parents should always have the right to decide, justifiable so, where their children are best served for a good education. I will fight for that right.[9]

—Egidio Sementilli[3]

Another issue he listed as important was:

Taxes. The 18.5% property tax increase became almost a 22% which Mayor Bloomberg saddled the homeowners, condos, co-op, and renters. It also hit the mom-pop store owners, who were forced to increase prices on basic foods items. I will fight City Hall to give a full taxpayer rebate, due to the almost 1 billion dollar surplus in the city’s coffers. I will fight for a 50% reduction on all parking tickets and increase fines for graffiti laws.[9]

—Egidio Sementilli[3]

2001

In a candidate statement for the New York Campaign Finance Board's voter guide, Sementilli said:

SEMENTILLI ON TAXES:
Housing tax reeducation is the answer to stabilizing our Community. Create 'Housing Zones' in the same manner as economic zones to allow homeowner to take advantage of the same 'tax breaks' now given to corporations. 'LETS TAKE STOCK IN OUR COMMUNITY.'

Reduce the illegal tax known as the New York City Water Bill. This bill must be eventually phased out to ensure that our community stays strong.

SEMENTILLI ON EMPLOYEMENT:
As a 'Union Member ', I will stop all privatization efforts by NYC. The middle class, blue-collar community is the foundation our Town. To privatize any of the City’s Union jobs means the destruction of the middle class. I will never let that happen.

SEMENTILLI ON CRIME:
The Second Amendment gives the people the authority to make citizens a 'peace officer' who is duty bound to protect and support the law and order. Therefore, we can increase the New York City Police Department to 100,000 officers by upgrading the 'Auxiliary Police Unit' to full 'Police Officer Status.' We all need to be involved to solve the problem.[9]
