Eight apply for Bethel Superior Court judgeship

BETHEL, Alaska: Eight applicants have applied for a vacancy on the Fourth District Superior Court in Bethel, Alaska.[1] The Vacancy was created by the death of Marvin Charles Hamilton III, who passed away on April 9, 2011. The applicants will be reviewed by the Alaska Judicial Council and then forwarded to the Governor, who will then have 45 days to choose an appointee.[1]
The Applicants
- Sean Brown: An attorney in Bethel, Alaska.[1]
- Angela Greene: A public defender in Nome, Alaska. She received a 3.4 out of 5 overall rating from the Alaska Judicial Council.[1][2]
- Poke Haffner: An Assistant Attorney General in Fairbanks, Alaska.[1]
- Dwayne W. McConnell: A Division of Law Assistant Attorney General.[1]
- Margaret L. Murphy: A judge for the Alaska Third District in Homer, Alaska. Appointed in 2005. Earned her law degree from Valparaiso University of Law.[1]
- Chuck Ray: An attorney in Anchorage, Alaska. He was given a 4.1 out of 5 overall rating by the Alaska Judicial Council.[1][2]
- David Roghair: A magistrate in Tok, Alaska.[1]
- Loren Stanton: A Private attorney in Ketchikan, Alaska. Has practiced law for 16 years. Graduated from the Willamette University College of Law.[1]
