Eight apply to fill former judge's seat

Tennessee: After a seat on the Knox County Criminal Court was left vacant by the resignation of former Judge Richard R. Baumgartner, eight people have applied as candidates for the position. Baumgartner resigned in March after pleading guilty to buying prescription drugs from a convicted felon under his watch.[1]
The applicants are as follows:
- Knox County General Sessions Court Judge Andrew Jackson, VI
- Scott Green, a former prosecutor
- TaKisha Fitzgerald, a current prosecutor
- Leland Price, a current prosecutor
- Steve Sword, a current prosecutor
- Del Holley, a current prosecutor
- Randy Reagan, a defense attorney
- Chuck Burks, a defense attorney[1]
Update
On Tuesday, April 26, the Tennessee Judicial Nominating Commission deliberated for a full day at the University of Tennessee College of Law, conducting interviews of the eight candidates. The commission, after interviews and hearing speeches, selected three candidates to submit to the governor. Those chosen were Scott Green, Chuck Burks and Steve Sword. The names will go now to Gov. Bill Haslam to select one to appoint as a stand in judge for Baumgartner.[2]
