Eighth Circuit Court upholds embezzlement ruling

North Dakota and South Dakota: The United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit upheld a 10-year prison sentence ruling for Ladarana Mees, a former official of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's Housing Authority for embezzling federal funds. Mees pleaded guilty to one count of theft and was ordered to pay a restitution of $20,000. Eight other counts of theft were dropped. The recommended prison sentence was 70 to 87 months.[1]
