Campaign themes
2014
Cipriani's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]
Education
- Excerpt: "Basic Education funding gives the school districts the ability to invest in the programs they know work best for their students. Instead, Corbett has retooled his unsuccessful block grant proposal. These block grants are only a Band-Aid that do nothing to repair the damage that Corbett's $1 billion cuts in education have done. Our children deserve better. They deserve a first rate, quality education."
Environment
- Excerpt: " feel it is important to protect our environment and make sure that proper regulations are enacted to preserve our water, air and land for our future generations."
Property Taxes
- Excerpt: "As state legislator, I will hold Harrisburg accountable and work to find other revenue streams to reduce our reliance on property tax but still equitably fund our schools. That is why I will co sponsor HB 76. We need to move forward and take action to provide real property tax relief for our residents, while ensuring a quality education for our future generations."
Marcellus Shale
- Excerpt: "Pennsylvania is the only state in the country that does not tax natural gas, yet it is home to one of the largest natural gas formations in the world, the Marcellus Shale. Pennsylvanians are essentially giving away our natural resource."
- Excerpt: "Experts say a 5% severance tax will yield $720 million in its first year, which can be used to fund education and protecting our environment. It is time we made the gas drilling companies pay their fair share and put Pennsylvanians first!"
