Elaine Brown is a judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals 5th District. She assumed office on May 5, 2008. Her current term ends on December 31, 2030.
Brown ran for re-election for judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals 5th District. She won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.
She was appointed to the court by former Governor Mitch Daniels (R) and was retained by voters in 2010.[1][2]
Education
Brown received her B.A. from Indiana University in 1976 and her J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington in 1982. Prior to law school, she worked as a public school teacher.[1]
Career
Brown served as a Dubois Superior Court judge from 1987 to 1998 and then from January 2005 until her appointment to the Indiana Court of Appeals. She practiced law in Jasper and in Evansville both before and between her terms on the bench.[1]
