I am an environmental engineer, lifelong New Jerseyan, and progressive Democrat running for Hudson County Freeholder in District 4. As a Freeholder, I will advocate for affordable housing and renters' rights, climate and flood resilience, improved mass transit and safer county roads. I pledge to increase transparency and fight corruption and patronage in Hudson County.
  • Jersey City and Hudson County are facing an affordable housing crisis. This is the single biggest issue I want to tackle as freeholder. We are currently seeing luxury developments being built while longtime residents are forced out of their homes. I want to establish a right to counsel for low-income tenants facing eviction, and a Hudson County Community Land Trust to invest in affordable housing in the long term. We deserve a Hudson County that is accessible for people of all incomes, not just the wealthy.
  • We need to invest in sustainable infrastructure. This includes building flood resiliency before the next Superstorm Sandy; improving mass transit, building bike lanes, and making our county roads safer; and preserving our parks and other urban green spaces for the public's enjoyment and mental health benefits. As an environmental engineer, I will bring a uniquely relevant background to our County's infrastructure issues.
  • Unfortunately, there's been a long tradition of corruption and patronage in Hudson County politics. I pledge to be a different model of elected official-accountable to the people, not special interests or political bosses. I am not accepting any donations from real estate developers or corporate PACs, and I will push for increased transparency and accessibility on the Board of Chosen Freeholders. I want to ensure itemized, user-friendly budgets are made accessible to the public. I want all meetings to be live-streamed, with remote public comment options available. I have published my cell phone number and email address on my website, and I commit to holding quarterly town halls if elected.
I'm passionate about climate and environmental justice, mass transit, affordable housing, equality and social justice, infrastructure, and health and human services.
The Board of Chosen Freeholders is the legislative branch of our county government, and controls the county budget. The county government has jurisdiction over local issues that cross city lines, including the county roads, infrastructure, county parks, county schools, the county jail, and the county sheriff's office.
I believe empathy, honesty, dedication, the humility to listen, and a genuine desire to do what's right for their community are all important traits for elected officials.
I am an independent thinker, I care deeply about our community and have a genuine desire to help make it a better place for all of us, and I am committed to being accessible and listening to constituents' concerns.
I think the ability to think outside the box in problem-solving, attention to detail, and a commitment to listening to constituents are all important skills for this office.
