Biography
Norton was born in Washington, D.C. in 1937. She earned a bachelor's degree from Antioch College in Ohio in 1960, her master's degree from Yale University in 1963, and her law degree from Yale University Law School in 1964. Her work experience included working as a lawyer, professor, law clerk, and assistant legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union. She also served as chair of the New York City Human Rights Commission from 1970 to 1977 and chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1977 to 1981.[1]
