Analysis
2024
Maine legislators passed two bills related to elections in 2024. One of those bills, LD 1578, made Maine the 17th state to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) and conditionally established the use of ranked-choice voting for presidential elections if the compact comes into effect. With Maine joining, members of the compact now represent 209 Electoral College votes from 17 states and D.C.
