Election results: 2011 Louisiana primary

Louisiana: Yesterday, Louisiana voters elected three new judges to courts, while sending six candidates to the runoff election on November 19, 2011. In Louisiana's open primary, candidates of all parties compete at once. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, a primary runoff election is held.
Newly elected judges:
- Robert A. Chaisson to the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. Chaisson previously served as a judge on the 29th Judicial District. He easily won election to the appellate court, receiving 72.75 percent of the vote.
- Michael D. Clement to the 25th Judicial District. In the closest judicial race decided yesterday, Clement joins the court after winning 54.9 percent of the vote.
- Franz Zibilich to the Criminal District Court. Zibilich received 65.1 percent of the vote in a three-way race.
Candidates advancing to the runoff election:
- Susan Theall and Kay K. Gautreaux will compete for Section 3, District M in the 25th Judicial District.
- Nakisha Ervin-Knott and Clare Jupiter will compete for Division E of the Civil District Court. This court is located in Orleans Parish.
- Sheva Sims and Shante' Wells will compete for the Shreveport City Court.
