Elementary & Secondary Education Charter School Policy Committee, Illinois House of Representatives (decommissioned)
The Elementary & Secondary Education Charter School Policy Committee is a former standing committee of the Illinois House of Representatives. This committee was discontinued after the 100th General Assembly. Beginning with the 101st General Assembly in 2019, the committee on charter school policy was subsumed into the Elementary & Secondary Education: Administration, Licensing & Charter School Committee.[1]
Per the House Rules, committees of the Illinois House of Representatives are assigned by the Speaker of the House and Minority Leader. The Speaker appoints the chair, vice-chair, and remaining majority members while the Minority Leader appoints the minority members. Committees are assigned at the start of each term.[2] A majority of appointed members make up a committee's quorum.[3] The Speaker is not recognized as an ex officio member of any committee.
